Where to Eat Near Busch Gardens Tampa
If you’re wondering where to eat near Busch Gardens Tampa without defaulting to a chain, Temple Terrace is your answer. There are several restaurants near USF Tampa.
Trip’s Diner — The Breakfast Spot Worth the Wait
If you only have time for one sit-down meal in the Temple Terrace area, make it Trip’s Diner. This is a classic local diner that locals actually eat at — not a tourist-facing chain dressed up to look homey, but the real thing.

The sign out front says it best: “Your stove deserves a day off.” That’s the whole vibe.
Trip’s is known for fresh seafood and generous portions — and they mean it on both counts. The two most popular items on the menu are the corned beef hash with eggs and the crab eggs benedict, and both are worth ordering. The home fries are crispy and well-seasoned. The coffee comes in a Trip’s Diner mug and it stays hot.
The atmosphere is family-oriented, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given how busy it gets. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Service is fast even when the place is full. Prices are reasonable for what you get.
Expect a wait on weekends — sometimes 20 minutes or more. It’s worth it. Go on a weekday if you can.

Bamboozle — When You Need a Really Good Ramen Bowl
We ordered takeout from Bamboozle and the ramen bowl was fantastic. If you’re a ramen person — the kind who knows the difference between a real bowl and the kind that comes in a packet — this is worth finding.

Safety Harbor — The Hidden Gem Worth the Drive
If you’re visiting the Tampa area and you don’t make it to Safety Harbor, you’ve missed the best part. Safety Harbor is about 30-40 minutes from Busch Gardens Tampa — and if you’re deciding where to eat near Busch Gardens Tampa and want something beyond the immediate area, this detour is absolutely worth it.
Safety Harbor is a small, charming waterfront town on the western shore of Tampa Bay — the kind of place that feels genuinely unhurried. Families come here for special occasions. Visitors from overseas come to stay at the Safety Harbor Spa for weeks or even months at a time, taking advantage of the natural spring waters, yoga sessions, tennis, swimming, and walking paths.
Safety Harbor restaurants vary from the quaint little shops to the fancy dining establishments. It will satisfy your palette each time. I’ve mentioned a few locations in this post.
The spa itself has been on my list to revisit — it’s been a while since I’ve stayed there, but the natural springs that feed it are the real thing. The water has a long history of being considered restorative, and whether you believe in that or simply enjoy a beautiful place to slow down, Safety Harbor delivers.
If you love slowing down and exploring places most tourists miss, you might enjoy our guide to Oban, Scotland — another town worth lingering in.
Harbor Pointe offers boutique shopping — a little pricey but worth a browse. The whole town has the feel of a place people seek out rather than stumble upon. Once you find it, you’ll understand why they keep coming back.
The Tides — Fresh Seafood in a Converted Post Office

This is a quaint little location that will surprise you. The Tides is housed in Safety Harbor’s old post office building, and whoever converted it understood that some spaces deserve to be preserved rather than gutted. The outdoor patio is the heart of the experience — herb garden planters, string lights, palm trees, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger over your meal.

What makes The Tides different from a typical seafood restaurant is that it has a fresh fish market and specialty food store on site. The seafood on your plate came from those cases — stone crab, Key West pink shrimp, fresh fish fillets, oysters on ice. You can see what you’re getting before you order it.

We took my mother-in-law here for dinner and ordered well. The beet and arugula salad with pistachios, goat cheese, and honeycomb sauce was the kind of dish that signals a kitchen paying attention — beautiful on the plate and genuinely delicious. The crab cake sandwich with lemon thyme orzo was simple and exactly right. My husband’s trout with asparagus and potatoes was fresh and well prepared.

A note on seating: outdoors is quiet and lovely. Inside gets loud. Ask for outdoor seating when you arrive — especially in the evening when the string lights are on.
This is a special occasion restaurant that doesn’t require a special occasion. It’s the kind of place you bring people when you want to show them the best of where you live.
